This is gorgeous, Anton Pearson on Grain Edit today.
The type looks fantastic so big and moving around the contours and corners of the wall really give it life. So much stronger than a typographic poster.

I’m back once again…

Not unlike the renagade master. Grafik ( one of the design magazines I used to write for)  has been struck down again, I’m still writing for plenty of others but  I’ve got more time to spend on stuff like this due to a mixture of personal reasons -  let’s just say I’m trying to get back on track…

I’ve got another blog here with more writing on it if you want to have a look.

As press release says “celebrating the work of legendary designer and art director Lou Dorfsman for the CBS network. The exhibition will center on his most notable creation, the 11 metre wide handmade wooden typographic wall, titled Gastrotypographicalassemblage. Created during an era when designers were both artisans and well-trained communicators, the wall is the largest modern typographic artefact in existence, described by Michael Bierut as ‘an irreplaceable piece of design history.’ With custom type created by Herb Lubalin and Tom Carnase, the wall contains almost 1500 individual characters”.
